As the name suggests, this is a standard numerical lottery game. Players have to choose six numbers from a pool of 45 to claim the jackpot eventually. There are three MegaLotto drawings per week – on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The drawings are televised and broadcast live at 9 p.m. on PTV4.
Single entry into the game costs 20 pesos. Players can also opt for system entries. A system of seven costs 140 pesos and the most expensive system is 12 numbers, costing 18,480 pesos. A system of 12, however, produces 924 numerical combinations. This means that the player has the chance to win multiple prizes.
Just like all other lottery games in the Philippines, 6 45 Lotto is available solely to players aged 18 or older. Tickets can be acquired from licensed PCSO retail venues throughout the country. At the time being, PCSO does not offer an online ticket buying option.
A player can choose the numbers that they prefer, or an automatic numerical combination can be generated at the retail venue at the time of the purchase.

6 45 Lotto is a pari-mutuel game. This means that the individual prize is determined by the number of people who have bought a ticket for the respective drawing and the number of winners in the prize tier. The sum allocated to this respective tier will be divided equally among all winners.

Keep in mind that these two massive awards were won at a time when the MegaLotto minimum guaranteed jackpot was only 4.5 million pesos.
While these sums are impressive, they don’t come close to the largest ever jackpot in PCSO history. The sum was produced after multiple weeks with no 6 55 Lotto winner. Eventually, a single player won the spectacular amount of 741.17 million pesos.
Players have a couple of simple opportunities as far as prize claiming goes. Prizes of up to 5,000 pesos can be redeemed at any PCSO authorized venue. The payout is immediate.
Prizes from 5,001 to 20,000 pesos can be claimed at the PCSO representative branch offices throughout the Philippines. Larger amounts are to be cashed out at the main PCSO office.
In the past, the Philippines did not have an income tax on lottery prizes. The government, however, has carried out tax reforms to enhance budgetary fund collection. Since January 2018, all of the PCSO lottery awards are subjected to a 20 percent income tax.
